Bimini Style Blown Glass Droplet Candlestick Holder Set

Hand-made blown glass delicacies. Made in the style of Bimini, a famous Austrian producer of lampwork art glass in the 1920’s-1930’s. Bimini’s glass art from the mid 20th century is well-known for it’s thin, fragile glasswork and interesting shapes.

Extremely popular at the time, the famous fragile figural work introduced by Fritz Lampl and Joseph Berger was imitated by many other great glassmakers of the past and present. Bimini is hard to identify as it is often umarked. The infamous Venini (Italy) produced Bimini style forms during the same period. We cannot say with certainty who made these interesting taper candle holders.

This set of candleholders feature a free-form wax receiver and solid glass ‘drip’ in dewdrop form. Very unusual and beautiful effect. The long stems are blown hollow. The foot has a ‘folded up’ rim and the wax receiver has a ‘folded down’ rim.

Hand-made from thin torch worked quality glass. Very light and delicate. One is taller than the other. Measures 8.75″ and 8.25″ tall.

Beautiful for table decor, or anywhere else. Change the color scheme by changing the candle colors. Perfect for the romantic dinner for two.

Big Vintage Murano Art Glass Sommerso Goose Sculpture

Beautiful relic of mid-century modernist Italian glass art. Made in mid 20th Century Italy (Isle of Murano). This beautiful style is most often attributed to Seguso or Flavio Poli design.

Hand-blown in the sommerso technique. Light aqua blue, cobalt blue and clear glass blown together. Hand-worked and applied feet and bill have gold fleck aventurine inside the glass. Stunning color combination looks liquid.

Big duck /goose stands 12.25″ tall and weighs 3.5 lbs. Beautiful coloring, exceptional quality. One ‘toe’ (second from the left in image 5) has a small smooth sliver off the tip that cannot be seen from the top. It is very small, smooth and invisible unless studied closely. Otherwise, in excellent condition.

Made in the 1950’s-1960’s. Exceptional colors. Big and Beautiful. Very well-made.

Big Vintage Italian Blown Glass Amethyst Centerpiece

Large hand-blown cushion knop stemmed bowl in luscious amethyst Italian glass. Imported in the 1960’s by KB (Koscherak Brothers), a New York based distributor meeting the demand in the U.S. for quality hand-blown glass from Italy. The KB Italian Glass sticker is on the inner side of the bowl. KB distributed glass from many different Italian glass houses and some of these items were made by Masters like Toso and Barbini. The ‘KB’ sticker has been found coupled with A.VE.M. s(Arte Vetraria Muranese) sticker, a well-known Italian luxury glass maker. KB Italian export glass was not signed by the artist.

It’s a big table centerpiece fruit or flower bowl. Formed entirely by hand in 6 parts. The 9½” wide bowl is applied to the 4-part stem which is applied to the slightly inverted foot. The stem consists of a wafer near the bowl, followed by a baluster, then a fat hollow cushion knop, then another baluster. It’s an eleborate ‘old world’ style of stem which allowed the maker to level the bowl by adjusting the stem within the knop while hot, and it’s also very decorative.

Beautiful dark amethyst high quality glass. Heat finished rims and ground pontil mark. In unused condition. Perfect. The bowl is 9½” wide with a circumference of 30″. It stands 8.25″ tall and weighs 3 lbs.

Big Blenko Art Glass Jonquil Crackle Waisted Floor Vase

Huge vintage Blenko Art Glass #5519L jonquil crackled floor vase.

In excellent condition. Hand-blown waisted cylindrical crackle glass floor vase. Measures 15.75″ tall with a 6.5″ base with a 6″ Wide Mouth – Weighs 5.25 lbs. Soft pontil with normal aged bottom wear. Designed in 1955 by Wayne Husted, Circa 1955-1965.

Lemony yellow color, thick walled glass. One of Blenko’s nicest floor vases – big, colorful & beautiful.

Big Antique Glass Goblet with Applied Donut Rings

Wonderous Medieval type glass oddity. This is a large hand-blown goblet in deep turquoise blue glass with applied doughnut decor. It appears to be ancient glass, but this is unlikely. We suggest that it may have been made in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s during the artistic revolution when artists returned to the old styles and techniques in a backlash to mechanism and government control. The glass houses produced many art glass items that appeared to be of ancient make during that time.

The foot is smaller than what we’d expect to see from 12th to 17th centuries. The base wear is light to medium. The applied glass donuts are useful and decorative. The size and weight of the goblet inhibits it from being lifted by the stem like a wine glass. Both hands can be used to lift it by the bowl, with random fingers using the center of the donuts as grips.

Lots of trapped irregular air bubbles and a couple of minor ash inclusions (from the furnace). Looks like it may be soda glass or forest glass. We found encrusted soil or pebbly ash within the pontil mark that cannot be removed because it is embedded in the glass. The trapped tiny pebbles could have been caused by early glass house conditions which were often partly outside and not very clean, and often the pontils were metal ground . This is a sign of very old glass.

Of very interesting note is the minute stress lines found zigzagging on the glass wafer used to apply the stem to the bowl. This is another sign of very, very old glass. It is also a sign of crude cooling methods. Irregular cooling could have occured at any date. Is it very, very old…or around 100 years old? Impossible to say at this point. Research continues and this page will be updated with new information when acquired.

Completely hand blown. The foot is applied to the stem which is applied to the bowl. The doughnut rings were made separately and applied to the vessel.

In great condition. No chips or cracks. There is a slight even ring of color lightning near the middle point of the vessel but it is not calcium deposits. Very hard to see. There is no liquid damage. There is NO glass sickness. Oversized goblet measures 7″ tall, weighs 1.5 lbs.

Beautiful Blue Depression Era Vanity Glass Decor Set

Lovely paired pulled vase and decanter from the 1940’s. Not made by the same company, but look great together on the vanity or the bar.

The decanter measures 8″ tall and 6½” at widest. The vase is 8 3/4″ tall. Both were blown from mold. The vase ruffles were hand-pulled. The stopper is hollow. No seam lines.

The vase was made by Fostoria (USA), the decanter’s maker is unknown. Both in perfect condition. Beautiful.

Awesome Huge Art Glass Ruby Chalice

Viking Art Glass Yesteryear #1806 giant ruby chalice with label. Very large goblet. Stands 9″ tall with a 5″ mouth. Weighs 2.5 lbs.

Made by Viking Art Glass in 1969-1971. Short production run of this beautiful variation of the diamond thumprint makes it a very rare item.

Viking’s replica of a popular early 1900’s pattern. Most of Viking’s Yesteryear items are found with diamond thumbprint. This item is has the scarce oval thumbprint pattern.

In excellent condition, absolutely beautiful with original sticker. About 40 years old. Some bottom-wear, naturally caused by sitting on surfaces all these years. Does not affect condition. Masterpiece. Beautiful mold with deep, crisp decor. No visible mold lines. Thick, luscious ruby red glass with a touch of “Amberina”, gradually appearing subtle yellow near the center.

Scarce item – largest of chalices in Yesteryear Line with the rare oval thumbprint. Beautiful deep molded glass.

Avocado Green Optic Glass Big Blown Goblet

Mid-Century Italian Glass Goblet Vase. Big & Beautiful. Lovely soft avocado green color with vertical optic panels.

Hand-blown with applied stem and hand-tooled ruffled rim. Thick, well-made glass with a couple of trapped air bubbles (common in mid-century blown glass). In excellent condition.

Looks awesome holding a fern or like plant. Enhances any retro modern decor, perfect for the bar. Makes a visually stunning candleholder with the optics, but never use a candle with metal on base. Old glass cannot stand high temperatures, any metal will get too hot.

Probably made in Italy in the 1950’s – 1960’s. 10.25″ tall, 7″ at widest, girth of 20″.

Authentic Mid-Century Tortoise Shell Glass Decanter

Large vintage mid-century pinched glass Tortoise Shell Decanter. In excellent condition.

Decorated with mottled brown glass to give the tortoise shell effect. Pinched body and stopper. Four pinches on body, five on stopper. Handblown and tooled. Large. Stunning.

Most likely Italian, mid-century 1950’s-1960’s, Vetro Artistico Veneziana. Measures 13″ tall with stopper. 10″ tall without stopper. Stopper measures 5″ long, 2.5″ square. Body is 5″ wide on each of 4 sides, on a 5″ squared base. Very, very nice. Very hard to find.

Art Glass Mod Centerpiece Bowl in Nutmeg

Funky mod vintage glass variety bowl. This fun stemmed art glass bowl was made in the late 1950’s to the 1960’s. Anything goes retro when it goes in this bowl. Great for real fruit or snacks too. Hand blown from a mold. The eight “fingers” were pulled by hand and heat finished.

Ultra 1960’s chestnut brown color goes with anything. Thick, quality glass has no inclusions and the color undulates in the light due to varying thickness of glass. In excellent condition.

Quality glass. At first glance it looks like a Viking Art Glass object. It may be Viking, or it could have been made by Fostoria, an elegant American glass house of the era which produced alot of the popular brown glass in modernist forms.

Sized for a centerpiece location. Great for dining table or end table. Measures 8″ round and 6″ tall with a circumference of 25″ around.

Art Deco Ruby & Chrome Wine Glass Set

Stunning New Martinsville art deco ruby wine glass set. In excellent condition. Circa 1920’s to 1940’s.

Glass bowl has a threaded base. Chrome stem screws into bowl. Metal is solid, heavy chrome, it is not Farberware. Farberware is lighter and plated, and is found on Cambridge, etc. Measure 5.5″ tall with a 3″ bowl. Set of 6. Fabulous.

Lovely Vintage Black Ebony Candlesticks

Unique pair of ebony Art Deco glass vintage candle holders. Lovely shape, like a twirling skirt. Age is at least 60 years old. Probably made by L.E. Smith or Paden City Glass, possibly Fenton. Made from a 2-part mold, the “skirt” base was hand finished and hand tooled to produce ruffles. When turned upside-down, it becomes a small footed bowl. Opaque black glass is shiny and clean. Goes with almost any color scheme.

Each candlestick measures 3.5″ tall on a 4.5″ wide base. The girth of skirt is is 14″ around.

Stunning Vintage Art Glass Kerosene or Oil Hurricane Lamp

Table oil lamp in Ruby Moon & Star glass by L.E. Smith, made in the 1940s – 1950s. The brass hardware is embossed “Eagle”. The base is made from a 4-part mold, shade is from a 2-part mold. The shade has a lighter color than the base, providing a nice fire glow effect when lit. A scarce item, very collectible. This piece is fabulous as a holiday heirloom and/or an eye-catching focal point in your decor.

This oil hurricane lamp is large, measuring 12″ tall, 5.5″ at widest, and 16″ girth.

Big Angry Charging Bull Art Glass Figurine

Large vintage Murano Art Glass bull…ready to rumble. Hand blown and hand-tooled was made in Italy in 1940s – 1950s. The body and head are blown hollow. The tail, legs, horns, eyes, neck and head ruffle, and “private” parts were hand-worked and applied. Hard to find with all the parts intact as this bull has.

This mean green bull measures 11″ long and 6.5″ tall. It weighs 3 lbs.

Set of 3 Retro Vintage Naval Orange Glass Canisters

Beautiful orange colored glass with ground necks (glass ground to fit neck and lid, airtight). Hollow lid finials with a stylized flower. Lids were blown into mold and hand finished. Vessels are hand blown, no mold lines, smooth swirled pontil marks. Medium weight glass. Imported and stocked at Gump’s in San Francisco during the late 1960s to early 1970s. Made by Takahashi, a famous mid-century Japanese art glass and art pottery maker.

Large canister measures 9.5″ tall, 6″ wide. Medium canister measures 7.5″ tall, 5″ wide. Small canister measures 5.75″ tall, 4″ wide.

Vintage Hand Blown Emerald Flower Bowl

Jewel-like emerald blown glass flower bowl by Blenko Art Glass, circa 1960s. This lovely flower bowl was hand blown with thick glass with the pontil mark in the inverted center of the seat. The ruffles were tooled by hand after the form was blown out. The ruffles are distinct from vase to vase… the number of ruffles varies and they are always shaped slighty different because they were done at the artists whim. The free-form ruffles help hold your flower stems in place.

The bowl bmasures 6″ round, 4½” tall, widest girth of 18″. It weighs 2 lbs.

Elegant Modernist Over-sized Snifter Vase

Lovely blown domed foot goblet hand blown in Italy, circa 1950s. Blown smoke black glass with optic panels and an unusual domed inverted foot. Mod decor from the atomic age. Made in Italy. We have another of this form with an intact label. This vase is unmarked.

The bowl and stem were blown separately, then applied together. Beautiful flower holder. This style also makes a great fern or hanging plant holder. Do not plant directly inside the glass. The rim and depth allows for a 4″ wide pot to slip inside.

This large vase measures 6″ tall, 7″ at widest with a girth of 18.5″.

Elegant Modernist Fine Crystal Bud Vase

Hand blown crystal vase sits slightly off-center by design. Beautiful, heavy fine crystal by Orrefors. Signed on the base with ‘Orrefors’ (spelled out), artist initials (?) and part number 3691-121. The pattern number 3691 dates to 1957 according to Orrefors reference charts. It appears the initial is a ‘S.’ or it may be a ‘U’ which stands for hand blown smooth glass. The ‘S.’, (if that is what it is) could stand for John Selbing or Simon Gate. The -121 number is unknown to me, I think it stands for a date. Can date it to the mid 20th century, but can’t identify the designer. I’ve seen a vase that resembles this one (but not off-center) designed by Nils Landberg. Orrefors lettering and numbering is very hard to decipher, and worse when the letter is illegible.

It’s a beauty. Tall and slender with a very small opening. It is clean and clear inside and out, and no damage. Very rare to have one without liquid stains as it is difficult to dry after washing. Very important to dry it completely after use with water. We use an absorbent cloth ‘snake’ pushed by a chopstick and get every bit of the inside moisture dried to prevent liquid staining.

This lovely bud vase stands 10.25″ tall and weighs 1 lb.
