Early Empoli Blown Glass Duck Decanter

Large figural decanter in deep dark green/black glass. Made by Empoli Glass in the city of Empoli near Florence in Italy. The beautiful green color of traditional Empoli glass is a natural byproduct of the ferrous oxide found in the sands of the local rivers that is used in the making of the glass. Handblown glass with inverted, polished pontil mark on seat of body. In excellent condition, no problems, glass is clean as a whistle. Little feet are applied. Cute little tail on its fat butt was not applied, hand formed with body. Stopper is solid glass, weighs just under 1 lb, hand formed, no chips. The neck piece fits straight and snug in the decanter opening. It can be turned in any direction.

Glass is thick and well made. Few tiny unintentional bubbles here and there. This beautiful glass is a blackish green. Nice bottom-wear present, fabulous color. Circa 1920’s – 1940’s. Gio Ponti, a major Italian designer of the time, used Empoli glass.

Stands 11.5″ tall, 8″ long and 6″ at widest. Total weight just under 4 lbs.

Early Blown Glass Canister in Chestnut Brown

Charming antique brown glass kitchen canister. Beautiful and handy little canister from the past for your kitchen or vanity counter. Blown from a mold with hand-finished rims and cover knop. Very old glass, circa est. late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The bubble is inside the glass and is typical of old mold blown glass. The hollow knop on the lid is a bit crooked, also a result of hand-working.

In excellent, original condition with bottom-wear (caused by surface friction over the years). The old glass recipe contains inclusions (little specs within the glass). The color of the glass darkens with the thickness of the glass. Measures 5.5″ tall, 4″ wide with a girth of 12.5″.

Early Blenko Grape Amethyst Bowl Acid Etch Signed

Extremely large Blenko Art Glass #914 bowl in amethyst. Designed by Winslow Anderson. Circa 1948-1959. Acid etched signature. In excellent condition.

Measures approx. 16″ wide and 4.3″ tall. Hand blown with soft pontil. Thick glass, weighs 5lbs. This is a huge bowl, great for table centerpiece or console.

EAPG Cake Plate From the Late 1800’s

Tall, sturdy 100+ year old glass cake stand. Beautiful and useful antique glass cake server in the plain bakery style. Stands just under 7″ tall, platform is 9.25″ wide, weighs 3.5 lbs. Has a 1/8″ tall lipped rim to hold the cake or pie in place.

Made by Duncan Miller Glass. The glass recipe contains the mineral “manganese”, which reflects yellowish/green under black-light. This is the ingredient that causes antique glass to turn purple if left in bright light for a very long period of time. The glass takes on a natural slight purple tint as it ages, even if it has been kept in the dark. This cake plate has just a touch of purple.

Has a small, but deep, nick on the underside edge of the cake platform. Otherwise, in great condition. Has a fat, solid ring of bottom-wear on the seat of the foot (caused by years of surface contact, and expected on old glassware). The footed stem and the platform were made separately in a mold, then applied together. A few trapped air bubbles within the glass and a couple of straw marks (present in old glass due to old cooling techniques). A large straw mark can be seen running through the center of the platform.

Eames Era Glass Set of 8 Ball Tumblers

Fabulous set of 8 Mid-Century era mod bar ball glasses. Circa 1960’s. Blown smoke grey glass with weighted solid bottoms. In great shape, no chips or cracks. Some inner scratching caused by stir sticks, can be seen when held to the light, invisible under normal circumstances. Nice heavy bottom wear proves vintage. Excellent example of mid-century modern bar glass. Quality made.

Distributed by Pee Dee (Pitman & Dreitzer), a Mid-20th Century Italian Glass exporter. They stand 4.5″ tall, 4″ at widest, weigh about 1 lb each.

Eames Era Cased Art Glass Circus Tent Box

Wonderful Eames era circus tent jar with fire orange lid. In excellent condition. Circa 1950’s-1960’s.

Rare item in this color and form. These were made by the Italians, Americans, Scandinavians, (among others) during the mid-century. This is not marked but we believe it is Italian because of the cased glass ball in the circus tent finial. Very fine work, beautiful glass.

Hand blown with finished pontil. The vessel is made of white glass and the tent lid is made of white and orange cased glass. Note the encased ball in the finial.

Measures 5″ tall and 5″ wide, weighs 1.1 lbs. Would look lovely on the vanity with cotton balls or as a candy dish.

Duncan Georgian Glass Set of 12 Plates and Bowls

Made by Duncan Glass in the Georgian pattern #103. Beautiful light amber quality crystal with heat finished soft rims and polished flat base rims. Circa 1920’s – 1940’s. Set of 12 includes (6) 8½” round plates and (6) 5″ round nappy/sauce bowls. Duncan made this pattern with an earlier name of ‘Victorian’. Duncan’s Victorian line stemware shapes were different than Georgian stemware, but the plates and sauce bowls were the exact same.

In great condition with no chips or cracks. The upper center have light utensil marks that can be seen when held to the light, invisible under normal lighting. Entire set weighs 8½ lbs. Extra nice elegant table glass. The plates are very hard to find. Beautiful, pleasant glowing amber color goes well with all color schemes.

Dorothy Thorpe Topaz Lustre Balloon Wine Set of 12

Rare set of Dorothy Thorpe crystal wine balloons. Mid-century designer crystal balloon stem set in Topaz Lustre. Dorothy C. Thorpe was born in 1901 in Salt Lake City, died in California in 1989. She was a well-known artist and designer during the early to mid-20th century with customers such as Clark Gable.

This set of 12 is spectacular. Sets of this fragile glassware are very rare. This set consists of 6 of the largest balloons and 6 small cordial balloons. The cordials are rarer than rare. The 5.75″ tall balloon cordials are in original lustre condition! The 7 1/8″ red wine balloons show some wear to the lustre and some rainbow effects caused by dishwashing detergent used in the past by someone who didn’t know that chemicals should never be used on tender lustres. At first glance the large balloons appear perfect. Looking closer, you can see the very tiny wear areas. Some of the large balloons have more wear than others.

Made of hand blown fine crystal and decorated with a light golden iridescent lustre finish. Nice ring tones. No chips or cracks.

Dorothy Thorpe Silver Band Stemware Mad Men Cocktail Party Set

Jazz up your cocktail parties with this popular vintage glassware by Dorothy Thorpe! Set of 8 pieces, plus 4 stir sticks, blown in crystal with real sterling silver bands designed by Dorothy Thorpe. Vintage rich minimalist style recently revived by the T.V. show Mad Men in its numerous drinking scenes using authentic Dorothy Thorpe glassware. Thorpe designed Silver Band glassware was originally produced in the 1930’s…1950’s. It is not made new today.

This set includes (4) 7.75” tall champagne, cocktail or parfait glasses; (4) stir sticks, blown hollow; (1) large 8.5” tall stylized pitcher; (1) Circus-top lid (1) long stemmed bowl; and (1) 4.75” round, 3” tall snack bowl.

The silver is in varying condition. One cocktail glass is nearly perfect. Another is almost perfect. The third has some scratching and the fourth has obvious scratching. The pitcher’s silver was nearly black (as were all these pieces) when found. Gentle removal of the tarnish revealed some light scratching and surface metal wear, hardly noticeable. Same with the round bowl. The band on the stemmed comport is in great condition. The comport lid ball finial has only 40% silver remaining. I have left the tarnish on the ball finial, it makes the missing silver less obvious. There are no cracks, chips or liquid discolorations on the thin blown glass.

Depression Glass Pineapple and Floral Dinner Plate Set of Six

Set of 6 Depression era glass dinner plates by Indiana Glass Company. The pattern was called ‘Pineapple and Floral’. The pattern was made in crystal in 1932 to 1937. Indiana did later reproductions of their own pattern in the 1960’s and in the 1980’s. The reproductions came in a variety of modern colors. Fun to collect, mix and match, and use. This is durable Depression glass, great for everyday use, but not dishwasher safe. This fancy, fun pattern looks great on holiday or party tables.

Hard to find in ‘dinner plate’ size and as a set of 6. Accessories are easy to find to build a beautiful Depression Glass table setting. Measure 9 3/8″ wide. Set of SIX. In perfect condition.

Depression Glass Marigold Luster Coaster Set

Set of 6 Jeannette glass coasters in like-new condition. Gold lustre flashed Depression glass deep dish coaster / ashtrays. Back in the day, coasters and ashtrays were often produced for both purposes. As a an ashtray, they fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and are suitable for small smokes and to hand-out at parties. As a coaster, they cradle stems with a 2½” wide foot or less. The bowl is ½” deep, handy for both uses.

Not often found without wear to the golden finish. These are perfect, finish is 100% present. No bottom-wear, no chips or cracks. Probably never used. Measure 3″ wide and 3/4″ tall. Each weigh just over 1/4 lb.

It is important that this glass is not put in the dishwasher, not cleaned with harsh chemicals and/or scrubbing, or left out in the elements.

Jeannette Glass was an American maker of Depression glass (1930’s). They made elegant glass for the stylish yet cash strapped consumers of the war years.

Deep Green Glass Hyacinth Bulb Vase

Beautiful antique bulb forcing vase. Blown into mold, with swirled pontil area and heavy bottom wear. The solid ring of bottom-wear, and the color, confirm the antique status of this light-weight vase. Est. circa mid 1800’s. Exceptional dark green color lightens and darkens with the thickness of the glass. The flower bulb sits in the upper cup, with water in the vase, and the roots grow down into the vase. It’s a decorative and fun way to grow a single flower inside the house from a bulb. Bulb vases have been in use for 100s of years, but finally went out of style in the 1950’s. There is a flat sliver chip on the rim. It is difficult to see, and is smoothed, no rough edges. Glass is clean and clear. Low, smooth mold lines are slightly visible.

Measures 5.5″ tall, 5″ at widest point. Weighs just under 1 lb.

Danish Crystal Decanter in Sapphire by Holmegaard

Stunning crystal Kutrolf decanter in ghosted sapphire blue. Beautiful German inspired form in high quality crystal with just a hint of sapphire blue. The sapphire twinkles and glitters according to the thickness of the glass and the current lighting. Rare color projects wealth and elegance. Designed by the infamous Jacob Bang for Holmegaard, Denmark in 1928. Circa 1930’s-1940’s. This color, usually seen on Strombergshyttan/Orrefors (Sweden) forms, was popular during the Swedish Modern decor craze of the mid-20th Century. The ‘Kutrolf’ style evolved from the 16th-17th century German design of twisted multi-tubed drinking vessels and bottles meant to ‘trick’ the user. Kutrolf bottles were sometimes marked “skill required’ to use. At the beginning of the 20th Century, the modern form became less ‘tricky’. The twists were illiminated. You do not need skill to pour from this decanter. In fact, the tubes on today’s version of the Kutrolf help ariate, give a good hand-grip, and provide a smoother flow. The ‘gurgle’ sound remains and has been dubbed ‘Cluck Cluck’ or ‘Kluk Kluk’ by mid-century modern makers.

This decanter has an old ‘isenkraemmer imerco’ sticker on the center of the base. This is a Dansk label, a prolific distributor of Scandinavian decor since the early 20th Century. Quality crystal was hand-blown and hand-tooled to form. Pontil mark is an acid polished half-moon. Stopper and bottle necks are ground to fit. Exceptionally clean. Immaculate. No signs of use or water remnants. Some bottom-wear on base caused by years of surface contact and is expected.

Measures 10″ tall to top of stopper, widest point is 4½”, base circumference is 15″. Weighs 2 lbs. Great for the bar that has everything!

Dancing Penguins Figurine Made in Murano Sticker

Big sommerso blown glass penguin figurine with sticker. The label reads ‘Hand Made Genuine Venetian Glass – Vetro Artistico Veneziano – Made in Murano Italy’. Much speculation about this label exists because it cannot be connected to a specific glass artist. Vetro Artistico Veneziano means ‘Artistic Venetian Glass’. I believe it is a generic export label. Italy requires specific labeling for export glass which changes over time. The sticker has been in use since the 1960’s but is not in modern use.

This loving penguin pair is in fine condition. Made of solid glass, blown in sommerso with black interior and colorless exterior. Big figurine weighs almost 3 lbs. Measures 7.25″ tall and 5″ wide. Perfect gift for the penguin lover.

Cranberry Glass with Copper Bird Figurine

Resting pigeon-like bird in solid glass with copper aventurine. Hand-blown and hand-tooled in cranberry and clear sommerso glass with jet black eyes and crown. Drops of copper/gold aventurine are encased between the glass layers to decorated the breast. Black glass eyes and crown are applied to the body. The tail and nose are drawn from the body.

Weighs 1.5 lbs. Measures 6.25″ long and 5″ tall to tip of crown. In excellent condition with old worn felt protecting the base.

Maker unknown at this time. Probably of Italian (Murano) or Nordic (Scandinavia area) descent. Age unknown, but not new. The felt circles have shrunk uniformly showing the age of the felt to be at least 10 years. Probably made in the 1960’s-1970’s.

Cobalt Blue Glass Vintage Cubist Pattern Covered Jar

Rare to find this large, beautiful American Whitehall Cubist pattern covered bowl in Cobalt Blue. Beautiful color in thick well-made vintage glass. Made by Indiana Glass, USA, in the 1960’s after purchasing Fostoria American molds. The Fostoria American pattern, introduced in the 1920’s, was extremely popular. Indiana glass ‘American’ Whitehall items have a rayed base. Fostoria American items are normally found with a plain base and polished flat rim. American Whitehall items are easily integrated into Fostoria American collections and visa-versa.

Big covered dish can be used for candy and snacks, or as a holder for precious personal items, or as a perfect powder puff jar for the vanity. Whatever its use, it will be a commanding décor focal point. It is a stunning bowl.

Measures 6″ wide and 5″ tall. Weighs just under 2lbs. Quality glass, no seems, clean as a whistle, no damage.

Cobalt Blue Glass Beverage Jug by Blenko Art Glass

Infamous Blenko jug in production since the 1930’s. The Blenko water bottle is the longest-lived design of the entire Blenko line. In almost continuous production since the 1930’s. Cobalt blue is an early and a late color. The color was used for only a couple of years in the 1930’s, and then in use again in the 1980’s till now. This is a newer beverage bottle with slight bottom-wear. In excellent condition. The color is beautiful, very vivid. Great place for your favorite beverage and looks lovely as a flower vase. Ingenious design incorporates a slim width with half-moon indentions on both sides for a good grip. Double-sided spout is very convenient. Surface has a lightly ‘hammered’ texture. Blown from a mold and then heat and hand-finished on the spouts and rim.

Measures 8.5″ tall, 6″ wide and 3″ deep. Weighs 2.5 lbs.

Cobalt Blue Ball Vase & Matching Ashtray

Mid-Century modern decorative glass set. These two items from the 1960’s-1970’s were discovered together, and are offered as a set. They look fabulous together, and what a great way to hide the ashtray. Makers unknown. Ball vases were popular during the mid 20th century. The ashtray is from the same period, but probably not by the same maker. Both in excellent condition. The vase has an internal intact air bubble, common in blown glass. The metal on the ashtray is in original condition. The ball vase was hand-blown with a polished concave pontil mark. The ashtray was blown from a mold.

Ashtray measures 7.25″ from rest tip to rest tip and is 1″ tall. The ball vase measures 6.5″ at widest, 5″ tall with a widest girth of 18″.
