Vintage Hand Blown Jonquil Optic Pitcher

Fabulous beverage pitcher made by Blenko Art Glass, pattern #991. Designed in early 1950s – Circa 1950-1970. This usable pitcher is hand blown with amber colored optic panels. The handle is applied. There is a soft pontil mark on the base. This lovely pitcher also makes a stunning vase.

Blenko Art Glass began production of hand-made studio glass in 1921 in West Virginia, USA. They specialized in colorful, creative and noteworthy art glass and household glass, and are still in business today.

The Jonquil optic pitcher measures 13″ tall, 7.5″ at widest, and weighs 4 lbs.

Antique Hand Tooled Islamic Pewter Chalice with Blue Glass

Mysterious hand-made metal encased cobalt blue glass chalice. The Islamic pewter chalice is made of thick hand-tooled pewter (possibly German silver) and slumped cobalt blue glass. The glass was blown into the metal, slightly protruding out of the cut metal openings. Rim of base and bowl have “melded together” with age. The metal is not plated, and is “soft”, easily shaves off with a sharp knife.

This is an antique. In 1884, Fritz Heckert of Germany patented this style of metal fused with glass. His metal-work designs are very similar to this chalice. In 1901, the Faulkner Bronze Co. of England duplicated Heckert’s methods, and the art form came into universal use. Glass factories in Bohemia, Italy and America called it “reticulated” glass.

The Islamic pewter chalice is made to hold with both hands. The bowl is 4.25″ wide with a 14.5″ girth. It stands 3.5″ tall and weighs 1 lb.

Three Elegant Imperial Crystal Candlewick Wine Stems

This lovely set of Candlewick wine stems at a touch of elegance to a table set for two. The Candlewick line was designed and patented by the Imperial Glass Co. in 1936. This beautiful, high-end glass pattern was inspired by the cotton wick that was used in Colonial America embroidery. The glass is medium weight and high quality.

Candlewick glassware was very popular and it was produced until 1982. It can be found in 100’s of different glassware shapes.  In the earlier years, manganese was used in the recipe which means many items can be found in “sun purple” (manganese causes the glass to gain a purple tint when overexposed to the sun or bright light over many years). These goblets have tested positive for manganese (lights up yellow under black light), but have not turned purple, the glass is still colorless. Extremely fun to collect and use. The Candlewick pattern came in a large variety of colors, decoration (etchings, gold, etc.), and shapes.

These Candlewick wine stems are Imperial pattern #3400 four ball, 4 oz. cocktail stems, measuring 4.5″ tall.

Spectacular Large Jeweled Kiwi Glass Egg by Renowned Finnish Artist Oiva Toikka

A beautiful and unusual 2 pound art glass egg. This jeweled Kiwi glass egg was made from thick walled crystal with small hollow center. It was blown by hand in cased colors of blues, reds and metallic silver.

It’s a big egg, nearly as big as its mother, the fabulous jewelled Kiwi bird. Comes in it’s own travel crate complete with nest and peek hole. Signed by the master Oiva Toikka for Iittala, Finland. Also numbered limited edition, this example is 438 of 750. Toikka gave the Kiwi bird and its egg a 3-dimensional effect with layers of colors in and on milky white encased in crystal. A booklet is included with 38 pages of full-color images of ‘Birds by Toikka’. This item is new and fresh from Iittala, Finland.

This jeweled Kiwi glass egg measures 5″ tall, 4″ wide, with the widest girth at 12″. It weighs 2 lbs.

Hot Orange Retro Bark Glass Decanter

Striking flame orange textured decanter for serving wine or liquor. This lovely bottle was probably made in Italy, blown from a mold with thick sturdy glass. It is unmarked. The hot orange color and bark textured surface lights-up and glitters in the sunlight. It is perfect for a window shelf or ledge.

Before the 1960’s, people thought it “in poor taste” to serve alcohol in the original bottle. Wine and other spirits were decanted into more “acceptable” containers. Booze makers fought this trend by supplying their product in jazzed-up, decor oriented bottles. This is one of those bottles. These wine bottles came filled with liquid and originally had cork or plastic surrounding the neck of the stopper. Most bottles like this found today are missing the cork or plastic due to age. Without the cork, the stopper is not airtight. Perfect for decanting a potion you plan to drink right away, but not good for storing alcohol.

The retro bark glass decanter measures 10″ tall, 4″ wide on each of 4 sides, and weighs 2 lbs.

Hippie Decor Flower Power Bent Glass Dish

Groovy multi-purpose retro vintage glass bowl. A glassmaker called Chance Glass from England in the 1950’s is usually credited for this great style of glass. It was so popular in the mid-century that many other glass makers duplicated the thin bent style. There is no label and it is impossible to say where this hippy relic was made, but it certainly looks and feels like Chance Glass, or possibly Maurice Heaton. Definitely vintage.

The enamel decor is in original condition, very bright and uniform, no fading. There are two “Maker’s Miss” areas on the decor. One is at the tip of a the center flower’s blue petal where a speck of white enamel occurs and the other is a purplish frayed line running through an outer flower’s white petal. These are both errors in the decor left by the maker. Both are very hard to notice. The colors of the decor are pristine retro. Olive green background with vivid yellow, orange, blue and white flowers. The black glass is often referred to as “smoke” glass. Chance, and companies who imitated them, made this glass by bending hot plate glass. The result is hand-made glass with no seams and a slim uniform glass thickness.

The flower power bent glass dish measures 7.5″ at widest and is 1.5″ tall.

Hand Made Mid-Century Glass Mushroom

Large funky mid-century glass mushroom. Hand made of solid glass with embedded white milk glass spots. Polished flat seat with appropriate, but light bottom wear. No maker’s marks, no label.

In the late 1960’s and throughout the 1970’s everybody loved a good mushroom. They had mushrooms on their walls, on their cookware and dishes, bread boxes and cookie jars, clothing, jewelry and in their home decor. Art glass mushrooms of the era came from companies like Blenko, Viking, Pilgrim, Rainbow, Scandinavian glass makers, Italian glass makers, and more. This mushroom may be from Blenko or Rainbow art glass, or it may be Scandinavian or Italian.

This mid-century glass mushroom measures 2.75″ tall and 3.5″ at widest. It weighs 1 lb.

Pink Opaline Murano Art Glass Bird Figurine

Sweet pink opaline bird art glass figurine in the launching position. Made in Italy. Date unknown. Estimated circa 1950 to 1980.

Possibly by Seguso in the 1950’s -1970’s.  Seguso was well-known for pink opaline glass.  Pino Signoretto and Arnaldo Zanella (Italian Masters) create glass art today much like this with the Vetreria Artistica OBALL label. Unable to positively identify either way. Research continues.

In perfect condition with light bottom wear. Cased with creamy pink and colorless glass. Hand-made. Couple tiny trapped air-bubbles within the glass (usually found in hand-made glass objects). The wings and the body are drawn from the same gather. The beak was applied to the body and the ‘feet’ base is applied with a wafer knop between the feet and the body.

Beautiful Italian glass art bird figurine in lift-off motion. Measures 4½” tall, 6½” long, and 4″ at widest. Weighs 1 lb.

Hand Blown Vintage Crackle Glass Mini Pitcher

Green Atomic Style Blown Glass Vase Set

Set of two vintage retro mod flower vases. Retro space age art glass vase set. In excellent condition.

Maker unknown. Mid-century age. The disk in the center of the stem can be found on Kosta items as well as on Viking Swedish Modern and Tiffin Modern lines, among others.

Circa 1950’s-1970’s. Hand-blown with smooth pontil marks. Bases are inverted. Shown in image with a royal ruby water glass for color contrast. Large vase measures 9.5″ tall on a 3.75″ base. Smaller vase measures 7.5″ tall on a 3″ base

Green Art Glass Axe Whimsey

Large 10.75″ Hand Tooled Glass Axe. In Excellent Condition. Light Green Kiwi Color Solid Glass.

Hand Formed & Tooled – Axe Head Applied. Circa Estimated 1920’s – 1950’s, Maker Unknown. Whimseys Like This Were Made by Most Fine Glass Makers of the Past. Shape indicates early “Duncan Miller”.  Axe Head Measures 4.5″ Wide, Weighs 1 lb.

Glass Eye Studio paperweight signed year 1991

Beautiful GES paperweight with trapped bubbles and dichoric fauna. Signed GES (Glass Eye Studio) and dated 1991. 2.5″ round paperweight in excellet condition. Weighs 1.2 lbs.

Stylized trapped air bubbles swirl concentrically from the top and graduate in size. Dichoric metal decor looks like trees. Colors of the fauna are in pinks, golds, blues and greens.

All GES art glass is made from the ash of the Mount St. Helens eruption in Washington in 1980. Very collectible and well-made art glass. This version is no longer available…dated 1991.

German Glass Antique Roemers w/Prunts

Set of 2 German made Deinhard Cabinet wine chalice antique roemers. In great condition with one tiny smoothed rim chigger beneath the foot – can’t be seen.

Made between 1888 and 1920 for the House of Deinhard, founded in 1794. The winery is still in business today. Hand blown with hollow stems. Amber prunts have been applied to exterior of hollow stem. Foot in also hollow. Rims are polished.

The words “Deinhard Cabinet” are etched on the vessel. Hard to see in images. 4.25″ tall with a 3 5/8″ wide bowl. Rare find.

Fostoria Coin Candle Holder Set

Pair Fostoria Glass Company Coin Candle Holder Set. In Excellent Condition. Circa 1957 – 1965.

Coin Items were produced until 1982. During the 70’s and 80’s a noticeable quality difference separates the older items from the newer. Coins are “Intaglio Frosted” on older items, as these are. Newer Coin glass does not have frosted coins.

Flower And Butterfly Art Glass Paperweight With Brass Stand

Beautiful large glass paperweight globe with encased glass flower and butterfly. Trapped inside the large solid glass ball is a yellow butterfly and pink flower made of glass. Detailed work. The flower stamin is made up of multiple tiny strands of glass and looks almost real.

Age and maker unknown. In excellent condition. Brass stand, included, has a nice warm patina and older hardware. Weighs just over 2lbs. Four inches wide with a circumference of 12″. Shown next to a large goblet vase and stemmed glass  to help show large size. In another image, we’ve placed this and another flower and butterfly paperweight inside the turrets of two Party Lite tall candleholders.

Flintsone Style Mid-Century Glass Tumbler Set

Set of four elongated thumbprint Stone Age vintage glass tumblers. In excellent condition. Circa estimated 1960’s – 1970’s on this Glass Tumbler Set. Looks like Duncan glass “Thumbprint” pattern, or Fostoria glass. Unsure of maker and era. Not new. Naturalist style.

Blown from mold. Swirled pontil mark. Beautiful lightweight amber glass with medium weighted base. Set of four. 5.5″ tall with 3″ wide mouth.
Great fun to use. Hand-wash only.
