Blenko Art Glass Giant Decanter with Air Twist Stopper from Mid-20th Century

Blenko part no. 6716; designed in 1967. Very, very hard to find.

Stands 14.25″ tall, 13″ at widest with a widest circumference of 39″. Weighs a total of 7 lbs, with the stopper weighing 1.5 lbs by itself.

Blenko Art Glass made paperweights in the air twist design. The stopper on this bottles is just like the paperweights. This stopper is in very good condition with one small rough line on the exterior (you’ll have a hard time spotting it), probably caused by a bump. The stopper has NO chiggers at the end of the neck insert as often seen. Bottle and stopper are ground to fit (must turn the stopper until it slides into the correct position)

The bottle is in excellent condition. No chips, no cracks, glass is clean and brilliant. In beautiful “Blenko Blue” also called “Turquoise”. Medium bottom-wear on base from sitting on it’s big bottom for all these years.

Tremendous Architectural Glass Red Floor Vase

Nearly 3 foot tall blown glass red floor vase giant.

Massive. It is blown out from a mold and then swung and hand-tooled. A very hard to do technique. This one is special because it has free-form on the body. The body looks cylindrical but it is not.

These vases were popular in the 1960’s to 1970’s. Most of the largest that are found today are by Smith Glass. This one is either from Smith Glass or Viking Art Glass.

This glorious red floor vase measures 36″ tall, weighs 8 lbs. The shape is more of a triangle with side widths of 7″, 8″ and 9″. The circumference at the largest width is 26″.

Giant Ruby Red Floor Vase Set of TWO.The 32″ vase is the largest Smith form we’ve seen to date. This tall floor vases were blown into mold then hand stretched, swung and tooled. They are deep translucent red with opaque tipped swung rim. A rare find in this size and color.

A unique piece made in the 1960’s-1970’s by L.E. Smith. Smith Glass has been crafting handmade, American-pressed glass since 1907, and today, is one of only a handful of American hand-made glass factories remaining. Known for creating the first headlight lens for the Model T Ford, and the original glass mixing bowl, Smith Glass is known for nostalgic favorites, as well as new contemporary designs. This form is often identified as Viking Art Glass. We’ve seen two of these vases with the Smith label – and this form has never appeared in Viking references.

These glass floor vases are in excellent condition. The glass is heavy and clean, no flaws. The largest measures 32″ tall. The base is 10″ at widest. It weighs 10 lbs. The smaller measures 21″ tall. The base is 7″ at widest. It weighs 5.5 lbs.

Tremendous architectural size floor vase from the mid-20th century

This enormous ruby glass floor vase stands 42½” tall — 3 feet 6 inches tall. This is the largest mid-century modern hand swung floor vase we’ve found. Certainly demands attention.

Studio glass of the 1960’s – 1970’s in architectural sizes like this are hard to find, and even harder to find in a true jewel-like red. In addition, the pattern that makes it shimmer and glow with the lighting is unusual and fascinating.

Made by L.E. Smith Glass and distributed by Laurel Glass Works.  The pattern is No. 952 called Simplicity.

It was hand-blown from a three part base mold, then swung to lengthen, then the opening was hand-tooled and heat polished smooth. The mold pattern consists of hobnail rings which you can see at the base in images. As the vase was literally swung around to produce the neck it caused the hobnails to elongate and created their own unique pattern. The result is stunning. You can see the light and pattern effects in the images below. The tip of the rim is bordered in a very light yellow. The body is solid ruby red.

The base is tri-corner. Base measurement in 10″ x 9″ x 8″. It is a soft-cornered uneven triangle. The 3-sided base makes the 42 1/2″ enormous ruby glass floor vase sit stable. Weighs 10 lbs.

It’s is perfect shape. Exterior looks new. The interior is clean and without calcium stains. The rim of the seat has a solid ring of heavy bottom-wear which is expected and not considered damage. Solid, thick, shiny clean glass.

Bluenique Space Age Candle Holder

Stunning Viking Art Glass Bluenique ultra modern candle vase. Unique! This vintage space age candle holder was blown into a mold, then hand-formed using thick, lovely glass in Viking’s patented “Bluenique” color. It holds a full-length taper candle.

The space age candleholder was made in 1959. Viking Art Glass began in 1901 in New Martinsville, West Virginia, USA, as the New Martinsville Glass Company. In 1944 the company was renamed Viking Glass. Their use of color in their glassware was what they became known for. Their line include everything from glass for the boudoir and lamps, to smoking and liquor sets, and included tableware and decorative art glass designs.

In the late 1950’s, Viking featured modern shapes and designs, such as this line. It was shown in the “Gift and Art Buyer”, August 1959.

This triangle shaped candleholder is in excellent condition. It is large, measuring 11″ tall, 4.5″ wide and weighs 2.5 lbs.

Viking Bluenique Taperglow Candle Vase Set

Vintage Viking Art Glass # 1192 Epic Bluenique Taperglow candle vase set. Gorgeous! Using thick, lovely glass in Viking’s patented “Bluenique” color, these Taperglow candle vases were hand blown from a mold with a polished base rim. It was a versatile design that was made to display flowers as well as hold full-sized taper candles.

The Taperglow candle vase was made in 1958 to early 1960’s. Viking Art Glass began in 1901 in New Martinsville, West Virginia, USA, as the New Martinsville Glass Company. It was shown in “Living for Young Homemakers” in April 1958, which describes it as “…tall, graceful, envied and modern” and in “The Gift & Art Buyer” Feb. 1958 which states “Designed to appeal to the woman who likes to do exciting entertaining.”

These Taperglow candle vases are in excellent condition. They measure 16.5″ tall and weigh 2.2 lbs. each.
