Scarce Turquoise Cased Glass Bottle Floor Vase from Mid-century

Mid-century Swedish Modern tall cased art glass bottle vase – absolutely beautiful and scarce. Most likely of Scandinavian descent; Holmegaard, Kastrup – or Italian; Nason & Moretti, Venini. We believe the awesome cased mid-century modern design with turquoise green coloring and its long thin neck and size point to Holmegaard.

Beautifully hand blown, hand tooled with concave polished pontil mark. The neck has minute evidence of hand tool marks. They are not noticeable unless studied, not unusual for hand-formed glass. There is one maker’s miss: a small elongated bubble trapped between outer and mid layer.There are three layers of cased glass. The outer layer is green/blue, the center layer is solid white, and the inner layer is light turquoise blue. Notice how the layers of glass combine to form the color the exterior. The glass blower also used a technique of changing the thickness of the glass layers to produce the shading from dark at the neck, fading lighter towards the base. Cased glass like this was produced by highly skilled glass artists in the mid-century. Medium bottom wear indicates age, especially since a bottle like this was probably used as display only. It has never had held liquid. Circa early 1950 to mid 1960. A very scarce item.
