Viking Art Georgian Ruby Wine Goblet

Viking Georgian #6910 facet stemmed wine goblet made from ruby red glass by Viking Art Glass, circa mid 1960’s.

Viking Art Glass began in 1901 in New Martinsville, West Virginia, USA, as the New Martinsville Glass Company. The use of color in their glassware was what they became known for. In addition to tableware, the company expanded their product line to barware, lamps, vanities and more. In 1944 the company was renamed Viking Glass.

It is constructed from a 4-part mold.  It stands 5″ tall, holds 4 oz. and weighs 1/2 lb.

    Amber Stained Pressed Heavy Quality Glass Serving Bowls

    These interesting vintage glass bowls resemble Early American Prescut, but are of a much higher quality than the Depression EAPC glass. This “fan & Star” pattern probably pre-dates Depression Glass; est. circa 1930s. The golden yellow color is permanently stained on the glass (applied by hand) and fused by extreme heat. It will not wear off (as flashed glass can). This decor was sometimes called “Amberette”.

    A few elegant glassmakers of the first part of the 20th century made amber stained glass; Heisey, Duncan (Amberette), Fostoria (Golden Glow), Cambridge, Hobbs Bruckunier, and Bohemian makers. The staining is precise and intricate, feels extremely soft and smooth to the touch. The glass is heavy and brilliant. Glass was pressed, NO mold lines visible (polished). Each bowl has acid ground triangles and grinding enclosing the stained stars. These areas were ground to provide a scratch-free base and for added decor. Nice touch. Beautiful edging is soft and seamless.

    The large bowl measures 8.5″ x 8.5″ (flares to 10″ at widest), 2.5″ deep and weighs 2.5 lbs. Smaller bowl  measures 5.25″ wide, 2″ deep and weighs 1 lb.

    Large Vintage Italian Blown Glass Goblet w Label

    Stunning mid-20th century hand blown glass goblet. Extreme size art glass goblet for mid-century modern decor accent.

    Vintage 1950’s Italian art glass with label. The color on the label has worn off. Impression remains of a man standing and blowing glass with a rod and the words “Made in Italy” remains on the silver foil.

    Blown with pattern mold diamond pillow optic effects. Beautiful grass green color. Inverted foot and solid glass stem were formed separately and then applied by hand. Tall goblets and tazzas like this were extremely popular in the late 1950s. This is an exceptionally well-made piece by a fine Italian artist. Stands 10″ tall, 6″ at widest with a 18.5″ widest girth. Opening is 4″ wide. In Excellent condition.

    Images below show this item with more over-sized Eames Era goblets. Looks gorgeous with fern like plants (always remove the plant before watering, don’t allow water or dirt to drain into old glass, never plant directly into glass).
