Swedish Modern Retro Glass Bone Vase in Sparkling Blue
This beautiful “Bone” vase is often attributed to Per Lutken of Holmegaard because he designed the first vase in this style in 1952. The Per Lutken design did not include the controlled bubbles in the base and was never put into production. Aseda Glass, of Sweden, produced this vase in the 1950’s – 1977.
Aseda produced many items with this heavy paperweight type base. Bo Borgstrom, a famous mid-century Scandinavian artist joined Aseda in 1961. Later Aseda merged with other important Scandinavian glass houses, but in 1977 the operations were shut down.
This blue with clear casing and paperweight bubble vase measures 8″ tall. It is shown with other bone vases in images.
Hand blown in sommerso (2 colors of glass, clear and purple) then swung to form waist and spout. Heat finished rim. The spiral of controlled bubbles are “tear” shaped. In excellent condition with mild bottom-wear.
