Vintage Kitchen ovenware covered casserole set of 3 in Gooseberry.
Mid-20th Century Pyrex Gooseberry 1½ quart casserole dish #474-B, 1 quart casserole dish #473 and 1½ pint #472. All have Pyrex marked lids, but they are not original. The pattern was designed in 1957 by Philip Johnson and produced until 1966.
Vintage Pyrex is of far higher quality than new because they were made with borosilicate glass instead of the soda-lime glass used in contemporary products. Borosilicate glass is much stronger and dense. Pyrex products, vintage and new, are oven safe at reasonable temperatures. Always soak and wash with a soft cloth. Do not scrub with abrasives! It is a bad idea to put vintage Pyrex in the dishwasher.
Since the invention of the dishwasher, most Pyrex Gooseberry found today have heat and water damage to the pattern causing color fading. In use for approximately 60 years, most of these sturdy dishes show major scratching. These covered casserole dishes are as bright as the day they were made and have very minimal surface scratching.
The Gooseberry series came in white on pink, pink on white, white and black. Pink on white and white on pink are very desirable today. The lids for the various Gooseberry forms are often lost to breakage. Pyrex marked fitting lids are replacements.

Retro refrigerator dish set is today’s best value. Made back in the good old days when Pyrex was made in America. Great quality kitchen storage glass that can’t be found today. Perfect for the retro kitchen vintage.
Sturdy, usable design and construction. These dishes work hard and rarely chip. Made in the 1950’s – 1960’s when dishwashers were not normally used. The pattern will fade if washed repeatedly in the dishwasher.
Pattern was called ‘Butterfly Gold’. The gold flowers on the white containers are in like-new condition. The white flower and leaf decor on the gold dish is slightly worn. No chips or cracks and all three original lids are in perfect condition.
The large dish fits 1 pound of butter. Smaller are great for sauce storage. Clear lids make sure you don’t forget what’s inside. Matching set of three, hard to find as a set.
