Bohemian Tango Glass Yellow and Black Snake Vase
Lovely art deco glass snake vase from the 1920’s-1930’s. Quality Czech art glass with acid stamped “Czecho Slovakia” Loetz mark. When the words “Czecho” and “Slovakia” are separated by a dash, or each word is on a separate line, then the object was made during 1918 to 1920, or when it was officially used again in late 1938 to early 1939. There is another mark above the country mark that can’t be read. It may be the artists initials or the catalog no. for the vase. In excellent condition with mild bottom-wear.
Micheal Powolny (designer for Loetz and others) is known for the “Tango” designs. Loetz used acid stamped “Czecho (new line) Slovakia” usually encircled in a wide oval or a square. Notice the acid stamp is bordered by a circle on this vase.
Hand-blown cased glass with applied thick black amethyst snake. Bright opaque yellow glass encased in clear. Measures 8.25″ tall, 4″ wide at widest part of base.
