Monk Shaped Bulb Forcing Vase in Soft White Satin Glass
Lovely large hyacinth bulb vase was made in Scandinavia, probably from Finland. Finished with an acid treatment to accomplish the satin effect. This is not frosted glass. Soft, quality glass feels like satin. Soft white color lights up like a light bulb with bright overhead lights. Semi-opaque. Hyacinth vases are hard to find today. Most were made in the 18th and early 19th centuries. This vase was made during the Swedish Modern craze of the 1940s-1960s. Hand-blown from mold with swirled pontil and hand-finished rolled rim.
The vase measures 7″ tall on a 4″ wide base. The opening is 2.75″ wide.
When forcing a flower bulb in glass, the water should be replaced at least every 3-days to avoid water staining.
