Detailed figural art glass decanter with a red tipped nose
This Czech man is drunk or cold…or both. The red nose is not just a red dot on the tip of the nose, it is a spot of rose coloring expertly embedded inside the glass.
Very well made. The art glass decanter bottle is of thick blown colorless glass with a weighted base to prevent tipping. Three green buttons and a heavy green scarf are applied to the bottle. The head is hand-made with exceptional applied details.
The applied decor technique is in the style of Jaroslav Brychta, world renowned artist and instructor of the Zelezny Brod glass school in Czechoslovakia during the first half of the 1900’s. After the 1950’s the Brychta style of glass was made by Zelzno Brodske Sklo until the 1970’s.
Big bottle measures 8.5″ tall to top of head. Weighs 2.5 lbs. Stopper insert and bottle neck are ground to fit. Exceptional example of mid-century Czech figural glass. Circa 1930’s to 1970’s. Unsigned. In excellent condition. [color-box]More About Czech and Bohemian Glass[/color-box]
