Vintage Venetian Glass Huge Chalice
Very large 1920’s Venetian art glass chalice with aqua blue prunts and filigree on very light grey-ish colored glass. In excellent condition, with no signs of use except for the light band of bottom-wear.
Measures 8″ tall with a 5.5″ wide vessel. The base is made with 3 blown sections; an inverted foot applied to a hollow knob with small round prunts, applied to a solid neck that is applied to the vessel.
The vessel is decorated with ribbing at the base of the bowl and with blue filigree and prunts above the ribbing. It has been suggested that the artist is Fratelli Toso for Salviati. Estimated age is late 19th century to early 20th century.
The filigree and prunt decor on the vessel is a bit uneven but the chalice stands up straight. The inverted base has an unpolished rough pontil mark that is visible.
