Retro Mod Vinyard Bubble Vase
Ultra retro mod decor. Shown in 1960 Blenko catalog, part no. 6041. From the ‘Vineyard’ line. Designed by Wayne Husted and made in 1960. Blenko’s amberina-like color was called ‘Tangerine’, a wild and wonderful combination popular in the 1960s-1970s. Hand-mixed glass, hand-blown into a mold, then hand-finished. The bubbles are well-defined, protrude on the surface and indented on the inside.
The vase is shaped like a soft pointed oval. Clean and sparkling. It’s hard to find these vases without water damage. It looks new, except for the heavy bottom-wear (expected on heavy vintage glass) that is evident on the polished flat surface surrounding the soft pontil mark. Signed with the sandblast etch Blenko trademark.
Big, heavy, thick walled vase weighs 4½ pounds. Stands 9 1/4″ tall, 6″ wide and 4″ at thickest point. The walls are ½” thick.
