Classy handblown tall bud vase made in Sweden.

The beautiful “Bone” vase is often attributed to Per Lutken of Holmegaard because he designed the first vase in this style in 1952 while creating for Holmegaard DenmarkPer Lutken worked for the Aseda from 1942 to his death in 1998. Aseda Glass of Sweden produced this vase in the 1950’s – 1977.

Aseda produced many items with this heavy paperweight type base. Bo Borgstrom, a famous mid-century Scandinavian artist, joined Aseda in 1961. Later Aseda merged with other important Scandinavian glass houses, but in 1977 the operations were shut down. We believe this vase to be one of Per Lutken’s designs produced during the Bo Borgstrom era. Circa early 1960’s.

Bone Vases a are blown by hand, with intentional internal bubbles in the base, hand-stretched and hand-finished at the opening and polished flat bases. No two are exactly alike. They came in many bright and rich colors and in many sizes. Fun to collect. An eye-catching display.

The Bone vase looks like a highly stylized bone. Having thin necks, Bone Vases are used as bud vases, accommodating 2-3 stems. This bone vase is turquoise blue. and stands 12 ¾” tall. We have a smaller version in ruby red measuring 6¾” tall.

In good condition with minor bump on the side of the bubble base.
