Swedish Cased Glass Pagoda Vase
1960’s Swedish art glass by Alstefors with label trace. This beautiful Pagoda style cased glass vase has the “traces” of a label remaining. The label is gone, but the adhesive impression remains.
Alstefors was purchased by Gottwald Fogelberg, the manager of Kosta, in the late 1800’s. During the mid 20th century, famous designers at Alstefors produced the lively, colorful glass the era demanded. In 1980, Alstefors was leased to Orrefors and production was discontinued.
This vase was designed by Olof Strom in the 1960’s-1970’s. Designed by Per Olof Ström. Handblown, cased glass. Inner layer is milk white, outer layer is blue, producing a soft blue with color intensity varying according to the thickness of the glass. Polished rim, swirled pontil mark.
It is in excellent condition. Stands 10″ tall with a base width of 3.5″. Weighs 2 lbs. Large vase.
