Ruby Black Handblown Glass Stemware
Pair of tall long stemmed Art Deco goblets handblown in black ruby. They appear black, but if held to a very bright light glints of ruby appear. Black was a difficult color to produce previous to the 1950’s and the color could only be achieved by using dense, dark reds.
Estimated circa 1920’s – 1930’s. Beautiful pair to match with a fine libation for a memorable gift. Maker unknown. Hand-blown and hand-finished in 3 parts. The long thin stem is applied to the bowl and the foot. Heat finished rims. Pontil mark rounded, slightly inverted foot. Medium-weight fine quality glass. Measure 6½” tall (one is slightly taller than the other). Both in excellent condition.
