Borosilicate glass is much stronger and dense. Pyrex products, vintage and new, are oven safe at reasonable temperatures. Always soak and wash with a soft cloth. Do not scrub with abrasives! It is a bad idea to put vintage Pyrex in the dishwasher.Since the invention of the dishwasher, most Pyrex Gooseberry found today have heat and water damage to the pattern causing color fading. In use for approximately 60 years, most of these sturdy dishes show major scratching and/or fading.
