Murano Art Glass Fire Bowl Mid-Century Modern
Stunning vintage round Murano glass bowl. in cased black and colorless crystal glass with red aventurine inclusions. The sparkling inclusions were swirled from the rim to the base and it glitters like fire. Spectacular eye-catcher.
This large free-form round Murano art glass bowl has all the features of Fratelli Toso art glass. We’ve seen many in the same shape and design style with the Toso label. But we have not seen the bright red aventurine swirl identified as a Toso. We are 99% sure this is a Fratelli Toso creation.
The Barovier & Toso glass company is located on the Isle of Murano in Italy. It is a very, very old company of family glass artists that has survived through the years. We believe this bowl was probably produced during the Mid-Century modern period, estimated circa 1940 to 1960.
Made by hand. Thick, high quality vintage leaded glass in solid black encased in colorless crystal. The fire red aventurine is sandwiched between. The base is polished flat.
The high quality glass causes a great deal of light reflection during imaging. The images show some white spots, but there are no white spots in reality.
A matching tri-corner bowl is shown in image 7 and is available separately. Click here to view.
