Murano Amoeboid Freeform Art Glass w/ Old Label
Hand blown Italian art glass with original Murano sticker. Luscious 1940’s-1950’s free-formed art glass bowl. The “Amoeboid” shape was very popular. These beautiful bowls were used as centerpieces, food servers, and sometimes as ashtrays. It contains Manganese, which reflects a yellow glow under blacklight. Manganese was used in antique glass instead of lead. The Italians, and some others, continued to use manganese into the 1950’s.
Deep bowl, perfect for floral or floats. A candle in the center looks awesome (but be sure to remove any metal parts on candle before lighting). Measures 10″ at widest, 3.25″ at tallest. Weighs 3 lbs. The thick glass was blown in colorless and light blue with optic pillers radiating from the base. The seat is polished flat. Old felt was protecting the seat, (removed) resulting is very little bottom-wear.
Still retain it’s old worn silver and blue round label which reads:”Made in Italy Murano”.
