Seneca Red Driftwood Glass Ice Tea Tumblers
Stunning set of (5) Seneca Driftwood casual tumblers in Accent Red.
The ice tea tumblers are a beautiful deep red glass with minute hints of yellow. About as hip and earthy as it gets. Nice, thick glass that was blown into a mold with no seams. Very usable. Hand wash only.
The Driftwood pattern in Accent Red found in these ice tea tumblers was introduced in 1969. Circa 1969 – late 1970’s. This glass is similar to predecessor Morgantown’s “Crinkle Glass” and is often referred to as crinkle or bark glass. Driftwood is sometimes mistaken for Whitefriars.
Seneca Glass Company was established in 1892 in Fostoria, Ohio, USA. Once the largest manufacturer of tumblers in the United States, they also manufactured high-quality lead stemware and boasted customers such as Eleanor Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson. In 1896, the company moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, USA. The Driftwood Casual table setting pattern was introduced during the 1950’s with only 4 colors (Accent Red didn’t come until 1969) and the line grew over the next 30 years.
