Home Decor Vintage Crackle Glass Gurgle Bottle with Ball Stopper
Retro home decor vintage Rainbow Double Gourd bottle with Blenko Art Glass blown ball in amethyst. The Blenko stopper and the Gourd bottle are ‘newly married’.
A ‘married’ stopper is not original to the bottle. Original stoppers on decanters from the past have a high mortality rate. Finding a new stopper that fits properly is a tough job. The stopper’s insert must fit exactly into the neck of the bottle or it will wiggle. We’ve found an excellent replacement stopper for this bubble bottle, it is a Blenko Art Glass amethyst hand-blown ball. The hard to find Blenko ball sits stable atop the bottle. The original stopper for this Rainbow Art Glass decanter was ball shaped.
Rainbow and Blenko were competing studio glass makers in the U.S. during the 1940’s to 1970’s. Each made items similar to the others. The popular glass colors of the day were offered by both companies. The bottle and stopper color match.
The bottle was hand-blown in quality thick-walled glass, then immersed into cold water to create the crackle effect. The bottle has an inverted base with soft pontil scar in the center. The ball stopper was also hand-blown. The stopper’s pontil scar is the blob on the ball you see in the images. Both in excellent condition. Circa late 1960’s.
Measures 10″ tall, 4″ wide base.
