Holmegaard Carnaby Large Glass Ball Vase
Michael Bang for Holmegaard – Carnaby range. Beautiful, big and fat sky blue ball vase from mid 20th century Scandinavia. The Carnaby range was designed in 1968 by Michael Bang for Holmegaard and produced from 1969 to 1976. Michael Bang designed this for the infamous Holmegaard glass house from 1968 to 2002. and is best known for his Carnaby, Napoli and Palette cased glass designs. His father, Jacob E. Bang, is acknowledged as the father of 20th-century Danish glass design.
The Carnaby ball vase is a scarce form. Most examples found today are tall and slender. In excellent condition. Nice, solid band of light bottom-wear. Inner casing is a thick wall of pure white, outer casing is blue.
Measures 8″ wide, 8.5″ tall with a 24″ girth. Weighs 2lbs. Note: the color of the vase is uniform, lighter areas in images are caused by reflection.
