Early Blenko Blue Art Glass Hand-Made Leaf Bowl
Huge Blenko blue art glass bowl catalog #633. Designed by either founder Wayne Husted (1952 to 1963) or Joel Myers (1963 to 1970). First shown in the 1963 Blenko catalog, the first year Joel Myers was the head designer.
This shape, a leaf with upward folded fronds, is iconic of the early 1960’s mid-century modern Blenko style. Thick glass with small internal bubbles and evidence of slight tool-marks, indicative of hand-made Blenko Glass. No damage, in excellent condition.
The beautiful color, dubbed Blenko Blue, was called Turquoise in Blenko catalogs.
Huge console or centerpiece size. Measures 14.5″ long, 8″ wide, 5.5″ tall, and weighs 6.6 lbs. Shown in image 3 with vintage giant lucite grapes and in image 7 with medium size apples. Would make a stunning floral bowl too.
Sure to please Blenko collectors and mid-century modern decor fans. Perfect decor focal point, the eye cannot escape it.
