Blown Optic Glass Goblet with Ball Knop Stem

Blown emerald green baluster wine glass with optic decor. Beautiful hand-blown wine glass. Full-sized. We believe this is a vintage (early to mid 20th century) reproduction of a 17th to 18th century goblet. It has all the features of an antique, with two notable exceptions. The foot is smaller than the mouth, and it has light bottom-wear. The light bottom-wear could be due to display only use, but if this goblet was 100s of years old, it should have a solid ring of bottom-wear…and a very wide foot. Goblets made in the 17-18th centuries usually have feet that are wider than the bowl.

Optic molded glass on bowl is smooth on the exterior and ribbed on the interior. The baluster stem is applied to the conical foot and the optic bowl. The slightly flattened ball knop is solid, not hollow.

A vintage reproduction of antique glass like this may have been made by Boda, Holmegaard (Scandinavian) or perhaps one of the famous mid-century Italian makers, as they made many reproductions of antique styles back in the 1940’s-1960’s. In excellent condition. Has some small trapped air bubbles within the glass and a charcoal bit inclusion on the foot.

Measures 6.25″ tall, 3.25″ wide bowl and a 2.75″ wide foot.
