Large antique glass Sweet Pea vase from the 1940’s.

Beautiful antique glass sweet pea vase in a light yellow with hobnail decor. Large vase holds handfuls of flowers.

In excellent condition, sparkling clean. Solid band of bottom wear, expected, on base indicative of its age and caused by surface contact over the last 75 years. Glass is considered antique if it has survived over 70 years.

Probably made by Indiana Glass. Indiana glass has a long history of affiliations with other glass companies.  As glass factories of old closed, Indiana Glass absorbed their molds. We know a version of this vase was distributed by Tiara Glass (a division of Indiana Glass) in the 1970’s. View the Tiara re-issue version in image 6. Notice the difference. Often the ‘acquired’ molds were altered in some way, as Tiara did.

This antique glass sweet pea vase was made with an original mold, probably acquired from Imperial or Fostoria. The time period of the original mold is estimated to be in the 1930’s to 1940’s.

It was hand-blown into mold, removed from the mold, then mouth blown out to achieve the bulbous shape. The rim was heat finished.  Beautiful light yellow color is commonly referred to as Canary.  The hobnails create beautiful eye-candy as the light shines through.  Condition is excellent.
