Amphora Urn Vase with Two Pink Handles and Frothy Bubbles
Mid 20th Century bubbly ‘pulegoso’ glass dual handled vase. May be a Napoleone Martinuzzi or an early Ercole Barovier.
Classic amphoras are jars with two handles and a narrow neck, employed by ancient Greeks and Romans for carrying oil and wine. This urn was made in the amphora style. Glass decor is called ‘pulegoso’, Italian for tiny, frothy bubbles. There are bubbles in the handle also.
Pinkish peach handles with vertical wisps of the same but darker tint in the mix. Has more pink/peach tint in some areas. Double handle is unusual and desirable. Hand made, hand blown, handles applied. Hand-tooled ruffle. Inverted base.
Measures 6″ tall and 5″ wide from handle to handle. Scarce, beautiful vase is in excellent condition.
