Amber Colony Covered Compote
Lovely compote with lid made by Hazel Atlas Glass, circa 1960’s. This amber colony covered compote has an unusual textured finish. The Hazel Atlas mark is on the base.
A compote is a serving bowl that is large enough to hold several servings of a dessert made from a fruit mixture cooked in syrup. These dishes have a high stem and some, as in the case of this one, have a lid. Another name commonly found for “compote” is “comport”.
The amber colony covered compote measures 8″ tall, is 6″ at widest, and weighs 2 lbs.
