Mount Vernon Cambridge Glass Decanter Set
Vintage Cambridge Glass Decanter & 6 Wine Glasses. Heavy glass with quilted diamond pattern called “Mount Vernon”. Cambridge part no. 52 (decanter) and no. 22 (wine stems). This pattern was made between 1931 and 1957 and this set is from the earlier years. The solid glass stopper (original to bottle) contains manganese, a mineral that would make it turn purple if over exposed to light. Manganese glows like vaseline glass under blacklight. The stopper is clear glass with a very slight hint of sun purple.
Large 40 ounce decanter measures 11.75″ tall and weighs 3 lbs. Footed wine stems are 3.5″ tall, hold 3 ounces. Big stopper weighs lb. All are made with 4-part molds. Mold lines are not visible except on the base of the wines. Stopper neck and bottle neck are ground to fit.
This set is in excellent condition, glass is clean and appears to have been used very little if at all. Classy, early American style bar glass with an elegant country flair.
