Blue Alabastro Vintage Venetian Art Glass Pear Dish
Beautiful pear dish made by 1950’s Italian glass master. Archimede Seguso perfected the blue opaline color in his line of Alabastro art glass objects. The color is a semi-translucent creamy clam broth type glass that was made in many hues.
The blue Alabastro color resembles blue opaline glass with nearly white accents. It’s a lovely color that can’t be duplicated today. The glass is velvety smooth, formed by hand with thick walls.
It is in original condition with a few tiny bubbles near the surface and one furnace inclusion. Handmade glass of the era often included trapped bubbles and debris. The inclusions are hard to see, located at the base of the bowl.
Nice as a candy bowl, sauce bowl or vanity catch-all. Back in the 1950’s it could have been used as an ashtray too. Measures 5″ long, 4″ at widest and 1.75″ at tallest. Weighs just under 1 lb.
