Set of 10 quality Swedish modern style metal with glass cup insert mugs.
Swedish Modern style mid-20th Century beverage mugs made in the USA. Yes, there once was a time when we actually made things in America. We were really good at it too. These Swedish Modern style cups are from the late 1940’s to mid 1950’s.
The Swedish Modern style is incorporated in these eye-pleasing, sturdy and useful mugs. Inside the gold chromed heavy metal is a simple little contraption that can adjust a bit to insure the the glass vessel and metal handle base fit snugly. The words “Melco Glendale Calif 4″ is stamped on this metal piece.
EACH weigh one pound. The weighted base glass vessels weigh 1/2 llb and the metal bases weigh 1/2 lb. These great entertainment ready cups stand their ground when bumped. Great for outside…the wind can’t bump them around either.
Clear glass was blown from a mold with heat-finished rims. The part that inserts into the metal base is solid glass (weighted base). The handled bases were made with some sort of heavy, durable metal, then plated in a gold tone. Full-sized cups stand just under 4” tall.
The glass is in excellent condition. The metal is in good condition. There is no damage to the metal, but there are a few tiny pin-hole sized spots here and there where the plating has worn. They appear in excellent condition, must look close to see the minimal wear.[color-box]More About American Glass[/color-box]
