Fostoria Sonata Morning Glory Carving Handled Tray

This elegant glass handled server was made by Fostoria (West Virginia USA) between 1939 - 1944.  The line is called Sonata #2364 and the decor is Morning Glory Carving #12.  Beautiful WWII era crystal. The stylized center handle is solid glass and provides a very good grip.  The beautiful carving was made on the underside of the plate. It was done in deep and shallow cuts then treated with acid to provide a satin finish.  Big plate, perfect for cut sandwiches, hors d'oeuvres, confections, etc.  Beautiful on the holiday and party tables. Measures 11½" round and about 5" tall.  Weighs 2½ lbs. In very good condition.  On the underside there are a few scratches and scuffs caused by scraping against table surfaces.  The Morning Glory cutting is in wonderful condition.  The glass is still brilliant.
