  • Authentic 1960s retro modern artwork by listed (Who's Who of Western Art) artist Leon Dusso (d'Usseau) Jr., son of Leon d'Usseau Sr. (b. 1885 d 1963), a screenwriter and director of some repute (The Restless Sex) during the silent era.  His older brother Arnoud d'Usseau was a B movie producer that landed on the Hollywood blacklist during Joe McCarthy's Communist witch hunt in 1953.
  • Dusso started drawing at the age of 12. He received a working scholarship at the Chouinard Scholl of Art when he was only 15. He also worked in Hollywood at MGM as a makeup artist for eight years.  According to Dusso "...a growing need for deeper personal expresson caused me to abandon this lucrative occupation for one more spiritually rewarding.'  He withdrew to a life of art.  His paintings were purchased and used in the making of the film “Man in the Grey Flannel Suit,” and the film “Anything Goes,” as well as the Perry Mason series on television starring Raymond Burr.
  • Dusso studied with Robert Merril Gage and Alexander Archipenko and lived in Los Angeles most of his life.  He died (b 1918 d 1991) in Lake Elsinore California, the city where this original piece of art was found at an estate sale of unkown heritage (it wasn't his estate sale).
  • Leon D'Usseau Jr. informally changed his name to 'Dusso'.  He signed his work DUSSO.  Very few Dusso's are available. This painting may be a one-of-a-kind.  Some great examples of his art can be found at  Stewart Galleries,
  • Big.  Measures 32" x 24".  Frame is made of teakwood.  The art is a mixture of ink and paint on board.  Signed Dusso.  On the backside of the frame a 'D' and 'Z3' were stenciled in paint.
  • In beautiful, well-preserved condition.  Soft teakwood frame has a few small bumps, nothing serious.
