Sommerso art glass pin-cushion bubble vase

High quality smoke glass bullet vase internally decorated with stylized bubbles.

Well-made vase with elliptical rim and bullicante paperweight base.

The trapped air bubbles are tight and concentric near the base, forming a half beehive. The bubbles are veiled up from the base into the body of the vase forming 3 triangle shapes in graduating sizes.  Look closely at the images to see this unusual effect.

Made by a skilled artist with thick quality glass in smoke grey with just a hint of smokey green.  Maker unknown at this time.  We suspect is was made by one of the fine Scandinavian (Riihimaki, Lasi Oy or Holmegaard) or possibly American or British. Circa estimated 1950 to 1970.

Hand-blown with soft pontil mark.  Elliptical rim was cut and polished and beveled.

Weighted sommerso (clear and smoke colors blown together) glass. Measure 9.25" at tallest and 4" at widest.  In excellent condition.
