Diamond optic antique blown glass canister

Antique glass canister in amber pillow optic glass.

Quality made pillow diamond optic glass canister.  Measures 7.5" tall, 6" at widest point.

This distinctive jar was probably made in the early 20th century by a fine glass house in Italy, America or France.

Swirled pontil mark on the seat.  Vessel rim was cut and polished.  Lid rim is also cut and polished.  The vessel and the lid were once a single piece, sliced off at the neck, then the lid was re-heated and re-fashioned.  The hollow pointed lid cap was hand-tooled.

Thick glass.  Pattern is deep and the texture can be felt on the inside and the outside surfaces.  The optic mold is a diamond pillow, look closely at the images to see the 3-D effect of the pillows.

In very good condtion. Light rim chiggers on inner rims (expected on old lidded glassware).  No chips or cracks on the glass.  The hollow base area has very light calcium deposits in the hard to reach inner edges of the seat. The calcium residue is very hard to see and is located on the inside hollow base rim only.
