Fine Antique Peacock Crystal Incised Stem Goblet Set

Beautiful antique hand-blown Peacock crystal goblets.

Set of two antique hand blown goblets in a most beautiful deep blue/green "Peacock" color.

Each measure 5.25" tall.  There is a circular outward bulge inside the bowl at the bottom center where the knop was pushed up from beneath (see image 3).

The quality crystal is top-notch. The lightest of "plinks" produces a strong, lingering tone.  Definitely by a very fine maker, perhaps Murano, Venetian, Italian glass or early Orrefors, Baccarat, Steuben, Pairpoint, or possibly Holmegaard (Kastrup).  Very high quality.  Made exclusively for uppercrust clientele.

See image 6.  It is a repaired antique Compagnie di Venezia e Murano, aka CVM, aka The Venice & Murano Glass & Mosaic Co., in busines from the 1880s to 1909. Great glass artists like Vincenzo Moretti worked at CVM at the time.  The Baroviers & Segusos studied glassmaking at CVM. The twisted incised stem of the sample matches that of these peacock stems. It is very possible the two peacock stems are from this maker - which would make them rare indeed.  Pairpoint, an American luxury glass maker, created a vase stem much like this around 1920, but we haven't seen an example of a cataloged Pairpoint goblet with an incised stem.

On the surface of the foot is a shadow of a round bordered lable.  We have not removed the label trace as it is a clue to their identity.   You can see the remains of the label in image 2.

Both are in excellent condition. Heavy extreme quality crystal.  SET of TWO. Hand blown and hand tooled. The base applied to the stem, the solid incised twisted stem is applied to the double wafer knop, the knop is applied to the bowl.   The stem is solid glass. The rim is fine polished flat. Very light bottom wear.
