Venetian Art Glass Amethyst and Vaseline Occasional Bowls

Set of Murano cased occasional bowls with uranium or manganese content.

Both in excellent condition.  One retains remnants of original blue and silver label.  Can make out words "...in Murano Italy".  The label probably originally read "Geniune Venetian Glass, Made in Murano Italy".  Click here to read more about Italian made glass,

Hand blown and tooled with graduating trapped air bubbles.  Made of amethyst glass with a colorless casing that glows bright green under blacklight.  Each measure 5" wide, 2" deep and weigh 1 lb.

The color, uranium or manganese content, decor and label dates this set to the 1950s.  Made by a fine Italian glassmaker. Name of maker yet unknown.

Glass made with uranium is called vaseline glass and will have an original (not lit) green or yellow hue.  Glass made with manganese was used in antique & vintage colorless glass, and also glows under blacklight, but usually glows more yellow.  We cannot see a green or yellow hue in the colorless layer, but because of the amethyst layer, a slight hue may not show. This glass glows bright green under blacklight.

Great for nut dishes at the bar, catch-all, munchi service, or decor.  Round bowl has a rest with a shell finish, usable for cigars.
